The Nigeria Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) will on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, host crisis leadership expert Dakuku Peterside for an exclusive leadership briefing in Yenagoa, as part of its ongoing initiative to promote thought leadership, literacy, and institutional reform across Nigeria’s oil and gas sector and beyond.
The event, scheduled to be held at the Board’s headquarters, is the fourth edition in NCDMB’s widely acclaimed series spotlighting leading Nigerian authors. However, this edition marks a notable shift in focus, featuring a leadership scholar for the first time. Peterside will present insights from his award-winning book, Leading in a Storm, which has gained national recognition as THISDAY’s Leadership Book of the Year 2025 and was listed among Independent Newspaper’s top six must-read books for the year.
At the session, Peterside is expected to deliver practical, experience-driven strategies on navigating crises, managing institutional change, and driving transformation in complex environments. His presentation will focus on Nigeria’s unique leadership challenges, particularly within the oil and gas industry, while also addressing broader development concerns facing both the public and private sectors.
Described by global thought leaders as a critical resource for modern executives, Leading in a Storm has drawn praise for its actionable insights. Kellogg School of Management professor Loran Nordgren calls it “a must-read for any leader who wants to successfully navigate the storms on the horizon,” while Hugh O’Doherty of Harvard Kennedy School characterizes it as “a practical manual for crisis leadership.” Similarly, Professor Tunji Olaopa, Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission, regards the book as “a defining contribution to leadership practice,” underscoring its relevance to governance and institutional reform in Nigeria.
With over 24 years of experience spanning both public and private sectors, Peterside has built a reputation as a reform-minded strategist and turnaround specialist. His work has focused on transforming underperforming institutions, implementing systemic reforms, and guiding organizations through periods of uncertainty and disruption. Beyond his professional engagements, he contributes to academia as an adjunct lecturer at leading business schools, where he mentors emerging leaders and shares real-world insights on governance and management.

Peterside is also a prolific author, having written two additional books, with a fourth currently in development. His growing body of work continues to shape conversations around values-based leadership, institutional resilience, and sustainable development in Africa.
For NCDMB, the event reinforces its commitment to fostering intellectual engagement and capacity building within Nigeria’s energy ecosystem. Through its corporate communications and social responsibility initiatives, the Board has consistently supported the promotion of Nigerian authors and scholarly works both fiction and non-fiction as a means of encouraging critical thinking, innovation, and knowledge sharing.
By convening policymakers, industry leaders, and young professionals, the upcoming briefing is expected to provide a platform for meaningful dialogue on leadership, reform, and the future of Nigeria’s development trajectory, particularly in an era defined by uncertainty and rapid change.
