The National leadership of the City Boy Movement has appointed IniAbasi Akpabio, daughter of Godswill Akpabio, president of the 10th Senate, as the director of the City Boy Movement in Akwa Ibom.
The appointment as confirmed in a statement by the national leadership of the movement is widely seen as part of efforts to expand the body’s grassroots presence aimed at strengthening youth-focused programmes across the South-South region.
According to the statement, the movement in the state is set for unprecedented impact under the leadership of IniAbasi Akpabio.
The statement reads: “Introducing the Akwa Ibom State Director of the City Boy Movement. IniAbasi Godswill Akpabio. With her at the helm in Akwa Ibom, the movement is set for unprecedented impact.”
The appointment is coming after another official had already been announced as the state director, it was gathered that all contentious issues have been resolved as the erstwhile state director, Iboro Johnny has pledged his total support to the new state director.
“I fully accept and respectfully align myself with the decision of the National Leadership in appointing IniAbasi Godswill Akpabio as the state director. I reaffirm my total commitment to the vision, direction, and strategic objectives of the City Boy Movement.
“As I continue to serve as the state coordinator of the City Boy Movement in Akwa Ibom State, I reaffirm my readiness to work collaboratively, constructively, and loyally with the new state director.
“I hereby pledge my full cooperation and support to her leadership and assure all stakeholders that I will contribute my experience, structure, and grassroots network toward ensuring stability, continuity, and accelerated progress within the Movement, ” Johnny was quoted as saying.
