The Makeup Talent Show made a strong return over the weekend in Lagos, drawing participants, industry leaders, and key government stakeholders in a vibrant celebration of beauty, creativity, and enterprise.
The event received high-level endorsement from Honorable Idris Aregbe, Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Tourism, Arts and Culture. His presence underscored the growing synergy between public institutions and the creative industry in Lagos.
Aregbe, who has consistently supported initiatives aimed at empowering young creatives, used the occasion to announce a significant reward package for the winner, Aribasoye Eniola Elizabeth. The prize includes a ₦2,000,000 cash grant and a fully supported makeup studio space in Victoria Island, Lagos.
Speaking on the importance of the event, Aregbe highlighted the role of such platforms in talent development and cultural promotion. “This kind of initiative helps to identify, nurture and celebrate talent while creating real economic opportunities for young people in the beauty and creative sectors,” he said.
The show was convened by Dorothy Agbonlahor and brought together a powerful lineup of beauty industry heavyweights and influencers, including Banke Meshida-Lawal (CEO, BM Pro Makeup), Bimpe Onakoya (Artistic Director, Maybelline New York Nigeria), Chris Oputa (CEO, Studio 24 Nigeria), Bidemi Ladipo (Head, Portfolio Management, Airtel Nigeria), Kayode Oladapo (CEO, Godrej West Africa), Dabota Lawson (CEO, Dabota Cosmetics), Adeola Adeyemi (CEO, Beauty by AD), Nicole Chikwe, Delphine Okoronkwo (CEO, Bare 2 Beauty Cosmetics), Ify Okoye, Modupe Olagbegi (Creative Director, Tiny Twinkles Lagos), Tacha Akide (CEO, Tacha Beauty HQ & 2x Guinness World Record Holder), Omoye Esekhile (Celebrity MUA & Head Artist, Glam by Omoye), Omobolaji Mogaji (CEO, Rubellite Cosmetics), and Ezike Kelvin (CEO, Zikel Cosmetics), among others.
Organisers described the event as more than a competition, positioning it as a platform for career building, networking, and industry collaboration. “The Makeup Talent Show continues to create opportunities for participants to build careers and connect with industry leaders,” a statement from the organisers noted.
Looking ahead, the convener revealed plans to expand the programme before the next edition in 2027, with a stronger emphasis on education, vocational skill acquisition, and community outreach. “Our goal is to extend the impact of this initiative beyond the stage and into local communities,” Dorothy Agbonlahor said.
The endorsement by Honorable Idris Aregbe is seen as a significant boost for the beauty and creative industries in Lagos, signaling continued government interest in supporting talent development and cultural expression in the state.
