President Tinubu is due to visit the State to inaugurate a number of projects particularly the over 600-metre Oporoma bridge across the River Nun in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area.

He is also expected to inaugurate 60-megawatt gas turbine station at Elebele in Ogbia Local Government Area as well as the new road linking Gbarantoru to the New Yenagoa City.

Speaking during the Easter service on Sunday in his country home, Sampou in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area, Governor Douye Diri had urged Bayelsans to turn out en masse to welcome the President.

Governor Diri said that Bayelsa is known for peace, unity and hospitality and urged the people to accord President the hospitality that the State is known for.

“I call on all Bayelsans to come out en masse to welcome Mr. President and accord him the hospitality that we are known for. It is part of our culture as Ijaw people to warmly receive our guests.

“We are known for peace and unity. Let us continue to uphold these values as we move forward as one people”, he said.

With a few days to go, the Goodluck Jonathan Bridge across the Ikole River on the way to the Oporoma bridge, has been painted just all speed breakers on the road have been removed.

Motorists, especially commercial transporters using the Yenagoa/Oporoma road road, have been warned against unsafe highway practices.

This first visit of President Bola Tinubu to Bayelsa State as a sitting President will be much more significant as it will herald the coming of uninterrupted electricity supply in the State, and the connection of the people of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area to the capital, Yenagoa by road.
