Olatunji Disu, Inspector-General of Police, has ordered a large-scale deployment of security personnel to Plateau State following a deadly attack in Angwan Rukuba in Jos North, Plateau State.

As part of immediate response measures, the IGP had earlier deployed Umar Nadada, Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations, to the state.
Nadada has been tasked with assessing the security situation on the ground, coordinating ongoing operations, and reinforcing the state’s security framework.
“Security presence in Plateau has since been significantly scaled up, with additional tactical teams, Police Mobile Force units, and intelligence operatives dispatched to the troubled areas”, the statement noted.
The police said the deployment is being carried out in collaboration with other security agencies to tackle the evolving threats and prevent any breakdown of law and order.
According to the Police, the intensified operations will remain in place until peace and normalcy are fully restored across the state.
The IGP also directed all operational commanders to ensure increased visibility of officers and to strengthen engagement with vulnerable communities.
Residents have been urged to remain calm but vigilant, cooperate with security agencies, and avoid taking the law into their own hands.
The police further called on citizens to promptly report suspicious activities to support ongoing efforts to stabilise the area.
