The Canada has announced an increase in application fees for permanent residence and citizenship, raising the cost of migration for Nigerians and other foreign nationals.
The new fees, published by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), will take effect from April 30, 2026, with citizenship fee adjustments already effective from March 31, 2026.
The agency said the adjustment is part of a routine review aimed at maintaining service quality and keeping pace with inflation and rising demand for immigration services.
Under the revised structure, the Right of Permanent Residence Fee will increase from $575 to $600, while the Provincial Nominee Programme fee rises from $950 to $990. Business class applications will increase from $1,810 to $1,895, and family class fees from $545 to $570.
Fees for protected persons and humanitarian applications will also rise from $635 to $660, while permit holders will pay $390, up from $375.
In addition, the Right of Citizenship Fee has increased from $119.75 to $123, representing a 2.7 percent adjustment.
IRCC noted that permanent residence fees are typically reviewed every two years under existing immigration regulations to reflect programme costs and growing application volumes.
