The Hailerz Student Community has held its first physical event at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), marking a shift from its online operations to on-ground engagement with students across Africa.
The event took place on 6 March 2026 at the Madhouse Event Centre within the university. It brought together more than 60 students who participated in a talent show that featured music, poetry and dance.
Hailerz Student Community is the student arm of the Hailerz Global Talent Community, an organisation founded in Texas, United States, with a growing network across African universities.
According to organisers, the talent show was designed to create a platform for students to present their skills, connect with peers and gain recognition. Participants competed in different categories and received prizes including T-shirts, Zorkel vouchers, cash gifts and books.
The event was led by the manager of the Hailerz Student Community, who coordinated the main segments. Lolita hosted the dance competition segment.
The Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Zorkel, Mr Samuel, addressed participants during the programme. He urged students to take their work seriously and remain open to feedback as they develop their skills.
Samuel, Founder of Hailerz Global Talent Community, also spoke at the event. He shared the origin of the initiative, noting that the idea began during his time as a student. He expressed appreciation to members of the team who have contributed to the growth of the platform.
“This is something I started while I was still in school,” he said. “It was a vision I carried alone at the time, but today it has grown into a community.”
Organisers said the event is part of a wider plan to expand to other universities across Africa. Institutions listed for future engagement include the University of Abuja, University of Ilorin, University of Port Harcourt and the University of Ghana.
They added that the initiative aims to support student development through community building and creative platforms.
The talent show also led to the identification of new participants within the student network. Organisers said more campus-based events will follow in the coming months as the organisation continues its expansion.
The Hailerz Student Community described the UNILAG event as the beginning of its physical presence on campuses, with plans to reach more students across the continent.
