The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has announced measures to make easy export procedures for made-in-Nigeria goods passing through the nation’s seaports to boosting trade efficiency and global competitiveness.

Abubakar Dantsoho, Managing Director of NPA, stated this during the NPA Special Day at the 37th Enugu International Trade Fair, with the theme “Empowering Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) for Global Competitiveness.”

Dantsoho, represented by Ezinne Asinobi, the Assistant General Manager, Corporate Affairs, said the initiative was part of efforts to align port operations with the Federal Government’s ease-of-doing-business agenda.

He explained that the Authority was reducing human interaction in export processes to eliminate opportunities for malpractice and improve efficiency.

According to him, central to the reform is the implementation of the National Single Window (NSW), a digital platform designed to integrate all stakeholders in the trade value chain.

“The NSW represents global best practice, enabling seamless interaction among stakeholders at the push of a button,” he said, adding that the system would significantly enhance the speed and transparency of export transactions.

“Yhe initiative will also bridge the gap between producers in remote parts of the country and international markets, thereby expanding export opportunities”, he noted.

He commended the Enugu Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture for sustaining a business-friendly environment that continues to attract both local and international participants to the trade fair.

Dantsoho further noted that Enugu remains strategically positioned as a gateway to the South-East, offering significant potential for export growth.

Nnanyelugo Onyemelukwe President of ECCIMA, praised the NPA for its important role in driving economic development, particularly in the maritime sector.

He lauded the Authority’s consistent participation in the trade fair and called for sustained collaboration to strengthen commerce and industry across the Country.
