Ayra Starr, the Nigerian singer and songwriter, has announced that her upcoming third studio album is in the works, reflecting her growth and how she approaches music next.

The 23-year-old Mavin star spoke during an appearance on Apple Music Radio Takeover, where she discussed her evolving sound, creative process, and recent experiences in her career. She said the new project captures her transition into a new phase of life and music, as she experiments with different styles and focuses on expressing herself more freely.

“I’m growing sonically, and I want to try different things, just putting myself out there and having fun while doing it,” she said.

According to her, the album-making process involved reassessing her approach to music after a period where she felt she was taking her work too seriously.
“I kind of lost the plot a bit, and I took it a bit too seriously, and it was never that deep,” she added.
She started by saying that her current work is centred on rediscovering enjoyment in music while maintaining consistency.

Ayra Starr got recognition with her self-titled debut EP, Ayra Starr 2021, which included tracks such as Away. She followed it with her first studio album, 19 & Dangerous 2021, featuring songs like Bloody Samaritan and Rush, the latter earning her a nomination at the Grammy Awards.

Her second studio album, The Year I Turned 21, 2024, included tracks such as Commas and Last Heartbreak Song, further expanding her catalogue and audience.

Ayra Starr has not confirmed the title of her forthcoming third studio album or a release date. However, she has released a lead single, Where Do We Go, which is expected to be part of the project scheduled for release later this year.
