Eziukwu community in Aba South Local Government Area of Abia State have heaved a sigh of relief, following the rehabilitation of Omuma Road.

Omuma Road in Aba South Local Government Area of Abia State used to be the artery into Aba city centre from PortHarcourt, the Rivers State capital.

It also served as the nearest route to Ariaria International Market from the Aba city centre.

However, the road was made impassable after the construction of Faulks Road.

Omuma Road became an eyesore, as it was turned into a refuse dump and the place was ravaged by flood.

Many homes were destroyed, as a result of flooding. Consequently, the abandoned housees became hide out for hoodlums.

Anyanwu Obilor, mayor, Aba South Local Government Area, during an inspection tour of the project commended the contractors for working according to specification.

According to him, the level of work done so far is encouraging and the relationship between the community and the construction company is cordial. The pace of work is also encouraging, despite the tough terain.

Obilor observed that rehabilitation of the road will improve commerce in that corridor and increase the value of land in the area.

From Ama Ogbonna to Achi Aro, more than 60% of the 4.5 km dual carriage road has been done and with the pace of work, Omuna road will soon be completed and commissioned soon,”Obilor said.
