Nkene Louis Enukeme, a director in Tonimas group, was on Friday, March 20, 2026, sworn in as the 68th president of Aba Sports Club 1926.
Enukeme’s inauguration as the 68th president of Aba Sports Club 1926 coincides with the club’s Centenary celebration, which will be held later in the year.
Darlington Nwokolo, chairman, organising committee of the Presidential Inaugural Ball, who expressed joy at Enukeme’s emergence, said that he will use his youthful energy to deepen development in the Club.
Enukeme should be the 3rd youngest president of the club, after John Udeagbala, former national president of NACCIMA who became the president of the club in his early 30s and also Eleanya Okororji, who also became president of the club in his early 40s.
He said that Enukeme intends to increase sporting facilities at the club, noting that they don’t have a football pitch at the club.
“So we are conversing for a football pitch, in infrastructure, he has a lot of things in his plans. He intends to rehabilitate the hall, which has a budget of N250 million.
“He wants to provide an ambulance for the club, which is valued at about N60 million. We don’t have a functional clinic in this club and it is part of his agenda. He also wants to provide a fire hydrant in case of a fire outbreak.
“So, before he leaves office people of Aba and members of the club will witness tremendous development at the club.”
Nwokolo, who promised the support of members to help him achieve his aims, said that the planning committee had raised about N80 million, noting that many people have promised to donate to the cause.
According to Nwokolo, “we hope to raise about N300 million, which will help the president to achieve some of his aims for the club assuring that Enukeme will deliver on his promises.
“He has served in different positions of the club in the past. In fact he served as the vice president 2-years ago and he performed well. We believe that he will do well,” he stated.
