UAE intercepts 137 missiles, 209 drones, urges public to rely on official sources

The United Arab Emirates has announced that, since the onset of the Iranian attack, the country’s air force and air defence systems have intercepted and destroyed 137 ballistic missiles and 209 drones launched towards its territory.

In a statement by the Emirates Ministry of Defence, it stated that 137 Iranian ballistic missiles were detected, of which 132 were destroyed, while five fell into the sea.

“A total of 209 drones were also detected; 195 were intercepted, while 14 landed within the country’s territory and waters, causing minor material damage”.

The Ministry stated that debris from the intercepted missiles and drones fell in various locations, resulting in limited damage to some civilian facilities.

It added that the relevant authorities responded immediately in line with established procedures, securing affected areas and ensuring the safety of residents.

The government strongly condemned the attack, describing it as a serious escalation that threatens civilian safety and regional stability. It emphasised that the action constitutes a violation of national sovereignty and international law.

The Ministry affirmed that the UAE reserves the right to take all necessary measures to safeguard its territory, protect its citizens and residents, and defend its national interests.

It further stated that the country remains on high alert and fully prepared to address any emerging threats.

We are committed to taking all necessary measures to safeguard our country and ensure the protection of all who live in and visit the United Arab Emirates.”

Authorities urged the public to rely solely on official sources for information and to refrain from spreading unverified reports, reiterating that the safety of nationals, residents and visitors remains the highest priority.
