…Brent hits five-year low
Nigeria's ambitious spending plans for 2026 face mounting pressure as a looming global oil glut threatens to slash prices well below the government's fiscal assumptions, risking a deeper budget crisis for Africa's most populous nation.
On Wednesday, Brent crude, the international benchmark, dropped 2.86 per cent to $58.83 a barrel by 4 pm WAT. US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) fell 2.88 per cent to $55.04 a barrel, pushing crude prices below the $60 mark for the first time since February 2021.
