The Lagos State Government (LASG) has called for industry collaboration to deepen the State’s technology and innovation adoption towards a sustainable growth.

Obafemi Hamzat, Lagos State Deputy Governor, made this call in Lagos during the Art of Technology (AOT) 7.0 themed, ‘Future Technology and a Sustainable Lagos.’

“Call to industry – let us build the future together. To our founders, innovators, creators, and global partners; we invite you to deepen your collaboration with us as we build,” he said.

According to Hamzat, AOT 7.0 represents more than an annual gathering, but a statement of intent by the state government not to wait for the future; rather Lagos will define the future by bridging policy and innovation divides.

“A statement that sustainability and technology are not competing priorities – they are twins. A statement that the next decade of African innovation will be written from cities like this one,” Hamzat said, reiterating “We see technology as a sustainable growth.”

Tubosun Alake, Commissioner, Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology (MIST), said the State intends to double the contribution of technology and innovation to Lagos’ economy by 2030.

He disclosed that the State had built a solid and broad infrastructure across Lagos. According to him, Lagos-based tech startups attracted over $6 billion in funding between 2019 and 2024, representing over 70 percent of Nigeria’s total tech investment inflows.

Alake announced the forthcoming Lagos Innovation Bill, a legal and regulatory framework designed to embed innovation in the state’s economic DNA, and also unveiled EkoSmart 2.0, an AI powered all-in-one chatbox that makes governance seamless.

“We are the de facto IT department for Lagos State, managing connectivity, data centres, ERP systems, smart-city implementation, and driving public-service digitisation through government”, he noted.
